Active ingredients:
Benzyl Benzoate I0 %.
Benzyl Alcohol I %.
lnactive ingredients:
Carbapol 940, isopropyl myristate, triethanolamine. polysorbate 80. propylene glycol , isopropyl alcohol ,
glycerol , potassium hydroxide.
Pharmaceutical form: Gel.
Pharmacological action :
-Benzyl Benzoate is an efficient acaricide and pediculicide.lt does not cause irritation or
inflammation to the skin.
-The anaesthetic property of benzyl alcohol ( in case of gel) relieves itching and prevent prolonged burning
and stinging.
Pharmacokinetics:
There is no information available about percutaneous absorption of benzyl benzoate.
Indications :
Benzanil is used in treatment of:
1-Scabies.
2-Pediculosis pubis and Capitis.
Dosage and administration:
l-For Scabies:
-Benzanil is applied for 3 consecutive nights. having a hot bath with soap and water before each application
-It is applied with special attention to hands, breast and genitalia. Nails are carefully treated by
using nail brush.
-All members of the family, sexual partners and friends who have come into contact with the patient
should be treated at the same time.
2-For Pediculosis:
Benzanil should be applied to the affected area and left for 24 hours. lf it is applied to scalp, avoid contact
with eyes carefully.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the contents of the preparation.
Side effects:
Benzyl benzoate is irritant to eyes and mucous membrane ( so avoid contact to these areas ) and it may be
irritant to skin in some cases. ‘
Drug interactions: None.
Pregnancy and lactation:
There is no evidence of mutageuicity or teratogenicity due to exposure to Benzanil. So it can be used during
pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions and warnings :
-Benzanil must not be ingested. Ifingestcd, benzyl benzoate may cause stimulation to CNS and convulsion
may OCCUR
-lt is recommended to make gastric lavage and use appropriate anticonvulsants if taken by mistake.

A carton box contains a tube of 80 g stored below 30 “C in well closed air tight container, protected
from light. . ‘
Instructions to patients:
-Clothes must be boiled or ironed before using them again.
-If applied to a scalp, eyes should be protected.
