Composition:
DELTACLAV 228.5 mg 
: Powder (Amoxicillin trihydrate & potassium clavulanate) for preparing banana flavored suspension. When dispensed each 5m1 contains 200 mg Amoxicilim and 28.5 mg clavulanic acid.
DELTACLAV 457 mg : Powder (Amoxicillin trihydrate & potassium clavulanate) for preparing banana flavored suspension. When dispensed each 5ml contains 400 mg Amoxicillin and 57 mg clavulanic acid. 
Bacteriology:This drug is bactericidal to a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including many clinically iniportant B-lactamase producing
penicillin resistant organisms both in the hospital and in general practice environment, including:
*Including B-lactamase producing strains resistant to ampicillin and amoxicillin. Indications:-
Upper Respiratory Tract Infections 
: e.g. Sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media. Lower Respiratory Tract Infections :e.g. Acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, Skin And Soft Tissue Infections : e.g. Boils/abscesses, cellulitis, wound infections, intra-abdominal sepsis.
Urinary 
Tract infections: e.g. Cystitis,uretbritis, pyelonephritis. Other infections : e.g. Osteomyelitis, septiceinia, peritonitis, post-operative infections, and dental infeclions. Dosage:- Based on the Amoxicillin component, DELTACLAV should be dosed as follows:
Neonates and infants less than 3 months: 30mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses. 
‘ 3 month and older:
o In sever infections: 45 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses.
o In less sever infections: 25mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses. 
Preparation and Administration:- To make suspension, first shake bottle to loosen powder. Remove plastic stopper and do not put it again on prepared bottle, then add the volume of water stated on the bottle label and shake well. When first reconstituted allow to stand for 5 minutes to ensure full dispersion. Once reconstituted, suspension must be stored in a refrigerator and used within 7 days. Shake well before taking each dose. Contra-indications:- Penicillin hypersensitivity and patient with history of cholestatic jaundice, hepatic dysfunction associated with clavulanic acid. Precautions:Information
for the Patient: DELTACLAV 
is to be taken every 12 hours. It is preferred for each dose to be given with a meal or snack
(meals does not affect 
DELTACLAV absorption). Drug interactions: Probenecid decreases the renal tubular secretion of Amoxicillin, so concurrent use with DELTACLAV may result in increased and prolonged blood level of Amoxicillin.Co-administration of probenecid is not recommended. Side Effects:Uncommon and mainly of a mild and transitory nature.
Gastrointestinal disturbances and pseudomembranous colitis.
Urticarial and erythematous rashes sometimes occur but their incidence has been particularly low.
Renal: Interstitial nephritis and haematuria have been rarely reported 
Over dosage:- Following over dosage, patients have experienced primarily gastrointestinal symptoms including stomach and abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. In case of over dosage, discontinue DELTACLAV, treat symptomatically, and institute supportive measures as required. In case of over dosage an attempt at emesis or other means of removal of drug from the stomach may be performed, adequate fluid intake and diuresis should be maintained to reduce the risk ofAmoxicillin crystalluria. Storage:- Store at room temperature, once reconstituted, suspension must be stored in a refrigerator, and to be used within 7 days. To be used under medical supervision
